Streamside
Imagine you're sitting by a stream. Around you are trees, shrubs, rocks, driftwood, and sand. In the stream there are pools, eddies, snags, and boulders. The water is rushing by. You can hear water upstream and downstream - cascading from one pool to another, over rocks and through boulder falls. Now, look into the stream, notice how the water rushes by, moving in a constant flow from upstream to downstream. Focus your ears on the portion of the stream you are seeing. Remove the noise from farther upstream or downstream. Forget about the trees and shrubs. Look closely at a small portion of the stream, then remove any color. You are now seeing and hearing what I see and hear when I sit streamside and meditate.
